Supervised Child Custody Visitation (SCV)

Father and child in supervised custody session during court-ordered visitation at WES Health System.

WES-SCV program provides an environment for safe contact between adult custodial and noncustodial parties and child(ren). SCV promotes the safety of adults and children during court ordered custody visits. The focus of SCV is to provide a professionally supervised environment where custody visits are monitored and effectively reported to Family Court to assist them in making an informed decision on custody determinations. All participants must be referred through Family Court. SCV aims to protect children and families from the trauma of witnessing domestic violence and reduce the risk of further abuse, injury, or abduction of children during supervised child custody visits. Supervision monitors are trained in domestic violence-intimate partner abuse and trauma-informed interventions.

SCV services are designed to:

  • To maintain a safe environment while supporting the parent-child engagement process through establishing trust and effective communication
  • Satisfaction of the Family Court orders for supervised child custody visitations
  • Provide the Family Court with detailed information regarding the supervised child custody visits
  • Educate families on the importance of personal accountability, responsibility, and the safety of children and ascribed participants in supervised child custody visitations

Key Program Features

  • Separate parent intakes
  • Consistently scheduled supervised visits
  • Safety Planning
  • Referral support for additional services
